Every December, offices across Bangkok go quiet in the afternoon and loud by evening. The year-end party is the one night your whole company gets together, from the managing director to the newest intern, and whoever organises it carries a lot of expectations.
This checklist is for HR teams, admin staff and event coordinators planning a company party in Bangkok. If you’re also organising seminars this year, our guide on how to choose the right meeting room in Bangkok covers the daytime side of company events. It follows how Thai companies actually celebrate, so you can choose a venue that handles every part of the night, not just the dinner.
What a Year-End Company Party Usually Include
Before you compare venues, list what your night needs. Whether your team calls it a year-end party or an end-of-year party, most Thai companies follow a familiar running order, and each part has its own venue requirement.
- Dinner: usually a buffet with a mix of Thai and international dishes, or a set menu at round tables.
- Opening speech and awards: a few words from management, plus recognition for long-service staff and top performers.
- Gift exchange (จับฉลาก): everyone brings a gift within a set budget, often with a theme such as the coming zodiac year or a Thai letter of the alphabet.
- Lucky draw: the highlight of the night, with prizes ranging from vouchers and gadgets to gold or cash.
- Costume contest: a dress theme such as retro, Thai luk thung or a single colour, with prizes for the best outfit.
- Live music and karaoke: a band or singer, plus a chance for staff to take the microphone.
If a venue can’t support one of these, you’ll feel it at night. Use the checklist below to find out before you sign.
Your Year-End Party Venue Checklist

1. Space for your headcount and your layout
Count your guests first, then think about layout. A buffet line, a stage, a lucky draw table and a small dance floor all need space beyond the dining tables. Ask the venue for its dinner or banquet capacity, not its theatre capacity. Theatre figures are always higher and won’t reflect a seated party.
2. A proper stage, sound and lighting
Speeches, awards, the lucky draw and live music all happen on stage. Check the stage size, the number of microphones, and whether there’s a screen for slides and draw results.
Also ask whether a technician stays for the whole event, so nobody from your team is stuck fixing the sound mid-speech.
3. Food that suits a mixed crowd
Your guests range from senior management to young staff, and some may have dietary needs. Ask which menu formats the venue offers, such as Thai buffet, international buffet or cocktail-style food. Request a menu tasting before you confirm. It’s the easiest way to avoid surprises at night.
4. Drinks policy and finish time
Check whether you can bring your own drinks, whether a corkage fee applies, and how late the room can run. Many Thai company parties start around 6 pm and keep going well past 10 pm once the band gets started, so the finish time matters.
5. Easy to reach for everyone
Staff will be travelling from different parts of the city after work. Look for a venue with easy road access, parking for your group, and taxis readily available at the end of the night.
6. Rooms for staff travelling from other provinces
If branch teams or factory staff are joining from outside Bangkok, a party venue in Bangkok with hotel rooms on site saves you a separate booking. It also means everyone gets home safely after the party, which is one less thing for HR to worry about.
7. One team handling everything
The smoothest parties have one coordinator who looks after the room, food, stage set-up and timing. Ask who your contact will be on the day and whether they’ve run events of your size before.
When to Book a Year-End Party Venue in Bangkok
December is the busiest month for party venues in Bangkok, and Friday and Saturday nights go first. If you’re planning for mid to late December, start enquiring in October and aim to confirm by early November.
Many companies also hold their party in early January to welcome the new year together, and some choose a weekday evening for better availability. Being flexible on the date gives you more choice of rooms and menus. Planning a conference or product launch as well? See our guide to choosing a corporate event venue in Bangkok.

Chat on LINEFrequently Asked Questions
When should I book a venue for a company year-end party in Bangkok?
Book at least six to eight weeks ahead, and earlier if you want a Friday or Saturday in December. Year-end is the busiest season for party venues in Bangkok, so popular dates and larger rooms are often taken by mid-November. Enquiring in October gives you the widest choice of rooms, menus and dates. If your date is flexible, a weekday evening or an early January party usually has better availability.
What activities are popular at Thai company year-end parties?
The most popular activities are the lucky draw, the gift exchange (จับฉลาก) and a costume contest with a dress theme. Most parties also include a short speech from management, awards for long-service and high-performing staff, and live music or karaoke. Many companies add simple games between dinner and the lucky draw to keep the energy up. When choosing a venue, check it has a stage, a screen and a sound system that can handle all of these.
How much space do I need for a year-end party?
Plan around the room’s dinner capacity, then leave space for a stage, buffet stations and a small dance floor. A room’s theatre capacity is always higher than its dinner capacity, so ask for the seated dinner figure. As a guide, Town in Town Hotel’s largest ballroom seats 600 guests for dinner but holds 1,000 for a standing cocktail party. Share your headcount and running order with the venue and ask for a floor plan before you confirm.
Should I choose a buffet or a set menu for a company party?
A buffet suits most Thai company parties because it offers variety for a mixed crowd and keeps the mood relaxed. A set menu keeps everyone seated, which makes it easier to time speeches and awards. Cocktail-style food works well for a shorter, standing party with lots of mingling. Whichever you choose, ask the venue for a menu tasting and check options for guests with dietary needs.
Can staff from other provinces stay overnight at the venue?
Yes, if you choose a hotel venue, staff from other provinces can stay on site and avoid a late journey home. This is common for Thai companies with branches or factories outside Bangkok. At Town in Town Hotel, our rooms are in the same building as our function rooms, so you can arrange the party and accommodation with one team. See our Rooms page for room types and availability.
Can I bring my own drinks to a hotel year-end party?
It depends on the venue, so always ask before you confirm. Some hotels allow you to bring your own drinks with a corkage fee, while others offer drinks packages instead. You should also check the room’s latest finish time, as many company parties run late once the band starts. Our events team can explain the options for your date when you get in touch.
